Oliver Shapiro began his music studies at the age of 8. His early teachers were Mary Gili (cello) and Dr. Borislav Bazala (piano), both of whom he studied with through his high school years.
He spent some summers at Amherst Summer Music Center, where he had the rare opportunity and privilege of studying with legendary cello instructor Channing Robbins, and continuing piano work with Bruce Potterton and William Dawson.
During his Columbia College years, his undergraduate education included studies with international performing artist and pedagogue, cellist Michael Haber. Post graduate cello studies then continued with an additional cello teacher, Maestra Karen Pinoci.
Oliver continues to maintain an active teaching, performing, and recording schedule, mostly from his Caldwell studio and home, where he lives with his wife Deborah.
