Oliver Shapiro has been giving private music lessons for over 20 years, since he was a junior in high school.
Oliver believes in educating each student as a musician, not only as a cellist, violinist, violist, or pianist, and including aspects of theory and history as the situation - and student's interests and capabilities - may indicate.
Although trained very much in the classical tradition, he is comfortable in most other musical spheres as well, and likes to encourage students in whatever style (classical, popular, theatrical, jazz, etc.) they show interest in.
He currently teaches at his home studio in Caldwell and at Elefante Music in New Providence (as seen at right, where he is helping some students prepare an ensemble piece for a recital).
