Why should you, or

your child, study music?

It costs money. It takes time. And, let's face it: it can cause conflict. Relatively few music students practice willingly on a regular basis and often have to be cajoled, encouraged, or even compelled to practice. Why bother?

There are plenty of reasons. At the very least, it's hugely worthwhile - once the student has started to obtain some reasonable skills, usually within the first couple of months - because the ability to make one's own music is just plain, simple fun! And once the budding musician discovers the fun of playing with his or her peers, then the fun starts to multiply exponentially.

It's beneficial also in that it helps the student to help schedule and prioritize different things in his or her life. School work, athletics, clubs, and music all need to be worked smoothly into a regular schedule.

But perhaps the best reason of all is illustrated by the video on this page. It's short (less than 5 mnutes), and it illustrates just how incredibly beneficial making music can be in developing our brains. Really - check out whatever online sources you wish to verify this for yourself!
